While our National leaders were busy drafting our constitution, a great establishment was taking place in
Pune - "Oxford of the east". Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Medical College was established in 1946.
I'm not sure how many people have actually seen our "Foundation Stone". It sits inconspicuously near our
"adda" (Just outside Ladies Common Room)

This is what I know of the history behind our college:
Byramjeejee Jeejeebhoy belonged to the same family as of Jamshetjee Jeejeebhoy(The family which founded
Grant Medical College,J .J. School of Architecture and J. J. School of Art).

David Sassoon used to be one of the top-notch surgeon of the country who operated on Gandhijee for Appendicitis

It gave birth to many leading practitioners like Dr. Hiremath, Dr. Sancheti, Dr. Mulgaonkar and many more
Actors/directors - Shriram Lagoo, Jabbar Patel and our Proff. Mohan Agashe, many IAS officers,and apparently
a few models on the ramp too!!!

As time passed, it turned up to be one of the premier medical schools.

We'd really appreciate it if someone would email the moderators a more precise history.
